Meet Our Doctors

Dr. James H. Manaso grew up in Haleyville. Dr. Manasco always wanted to work in the medical field like his father Dr. Hobson Manasco. He graduated from Haleyville High School in 1966. Dr. Manasco then received a BS degree from the Florence State University (now the University of North Alabama) in 1970. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1974. Dr. Manasco returned to Haleyville and opened his practice in 1975 where we still work today. The building had previously been his father’s hospital. In 2025, Dr. Manasco celebrated 50 years of service to the people of Haleyville and the surrounding area. His understanding of the eye and how it relates to someone’s overall health is extraordinary. Dr. Manasco still loves the challenge of helping others and has no plans to stop anytime soon. We’re hoping he never retires!!

Dr. Manasco married his wife Sharon in 1970. They now spend most of their time on Smith Lake in Arley, AL, but still maintain their home in Haleyville. They have two children Brooke (Edward) Poolos, and Hunter (Jasmine) Manasco, and six grandchildren. Their granddaughter Sophia is set to follow “Dandy’s” footsteps and will begin optometry school at UAB in 2026.

If Dr. Manasco isn’t at the office, he’s likely working on the farm, riding horses with the grands, or reading a book on the beach.

Dr. David Britton grew up in Belgreen, AL. Dr. Britton began wanting to be an optometrist after his first eye exam at eight years old. He graduated from Belgreen High School in 2001. Dr. Britton was the first to receive a BS degree in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene and Pre-Optometry from the University of North Alabama in 2005. He received a Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2009. Immediately upon graduating Dr. Britton began working with Dr. Manasco as an associate. In 2015 he joined the practice as a partner and the business took on the name “Manasco and Britton.” In 2020, Dr. Britton served as the President of the Alabama Optometric Association. During his seven years on the ALOA Board he fought for better access to care for people in rural Alabama. A legislative battle that continues today. Dr. Britton is blessed to serve the vision needs of Northwest Alabama, and wants to help everyone “see better.”

When not at the office, Dr. Britton can be found volunteering at school functions or watching his children play sports. After years of coaching their basketball, baseball, and softball teams he is now enjoying watching them from the stands. Dr. Britton has been married to his wife Traci since 2017. She is the nurse and JV softball coach at Belgreen High School where their two children Bryant and Nicole attend. They live on Cedar Lake in Belgreen less than 200 yards from where Dr. Britton’s great grandfather was born in 1900.

Dr. Britton is a proud disciple of Jesus Christ. He and his family attend Landmark Church.
